Chief of Staff Reading Books Available

The McConnell Base Library is located in the Education Wing of the Robert J. Dole Community Center and offers more than 20,000 books for leisure, education and reference reading. The library collection also contains CD and audiocassette book recordings, a VHS and DVD collection as well as a paperback book exchange. In addition they have study materials for CLEP and Dantes tests. Other library collections include foreign language study materials, music CD’s, and the Chief of Staff reading list. The library subscribes to over 50 magazines and newspapers for their customers reading pleasure. The Library has fourteen Internet accessible computers with CAC card readers however they are not on the Base LAN. Wireless Internet service is also available in the library. There is one stand alone computer with a customer accessible scanner. The children’s section offers more than 8,000 books, a VHS and DVD collection, an audiobook collection. and two educational computers.
The library offers a myriad of programs for young children through adults. We have weekly story times, outreach programs, homeschool group programs, book discussion groups, free computer classes, and a very successful Summer Reading Program. Who can use the library?
Per AFI 34-262, military members and their families, military retirees and their family members, DOD civilians (both APF and NAF) and their family members, DOD contractor personnel working on the installation, and students taking courses on base may use the base library.
