Arts & Crafts
The Arts & Crafts Center offers many different types of classes each year. Weekly ongoing classes, one day workshops, are held along with special holiday classes. Many classes are offered with one-on-one instruction. Some examples of classes offered periodically are:
• Oil painting
• Quilting & Sewing
• Basket Weaving
• Drawing
• Glass Fusion
• Picture Framing
• Genealogy
A wide variety of specialized classes are also offered.

The Arts & Crafts studio offers facilities, tools and equipment for your use in self-directed and assisted activities as well as providing services such as ceramic firing, dry mounting and flag folding. Equipment available for your use include: 3 potter’s wheels, 2 sewing machines, an opaque projector, light tables, lapidary equipment, mat cutter and miter chopper as well as ample space and work tables to complete your projects. Our highly skilled and knowledgeable staff is available to provide advice and assistance. We are always looking for talented instructors. If you would like to teach others in your area of specialty and make a little money, call or come in to visit!

Cindy’s Engraving and Awards
Our full-service engraving shop has the latest technology with computerized and laser engraving systems. Engrave your message on your choice of different metal colors, acrylics, wood and glass. Some of our most popular items include our custom made flag cases, shadow boxes and coin holders.
Plaques and awards are custom made for your quarterly presentations, retirements, special achievements, sports competitions, “gag gifts” and more. You can choose from a generous selection of awards in various shapes/sizes and prices to fit your needs. We carry a large assortment of acrylic awards, statuary, eagles, desk sets, clocks and more.
Please allow ample notice for large orders. Individual items may be ordered under our emergency same day/next business day service; plan for an additional charge.

Teresa’s Custom Frame Shop
The center offers the lowest cost custom framing services performed by our highly qualified framer. The shop is up to date with the latest technology in custom picture framing equipment. We carry a complete line of sample mat board, glass (standard, non-glare and conservation), and huge variety of picture frame mouldings to choose from. We can frame from postage stamp size pictures all the way up to 40” x 60” pieces. We offer buffered, 100% acid free, archival and museum grade materials to achieve conservation framing. Most orders are completed well within two weeks, ready to hang on your wall.

Self-help work offers you the opportunity to “do-it-yourself” and save even more money! We have a work area set up for individuals that like to do their own framing. The self-help area is open during all normal business hours in the Arts & Crafts shop. Self-help framers are charged a nominal hourly fee plus supplies to offset the cost of operation for this shop.

Wood Shop
Our Wood Shop is a completely equipped industrial arts shop. You will find everything needed to complete the simplest to most complex wood projects. A variety of hardwoods are available for purchase. For a nominal hourly fee you can use our equipment and have assistance with your project. Our highly qualified wood craftsmen are on duty to advise and assist you.

We offer instructional classes in beginning through advanced woodworking techniques in a group or individual settings. Classes include: Basic Woodworking, Wood Lathe, Furniture Repair and Wood Carving. We also offer a free design service. If you have an idea and rough sketch of a project you would like to complete, our craftsmen will help you design it and even estimate the amount of materials needed. Custom Orders are available for personal or squadron projects with prior approval of the Wood Shop Supervisor.

The Wood Shop offers a sharpening service. Have your lawn mower blades, kitchen knives, scissors and other blades sharpened here for a great price.

Auto Hobby Shop
Our Auto Hobby Shop provides excellent facilities and equipment for you to work on your car, truck, van or motorcycle with great savings. Equipment available for use include lifts, engine hoists, jack stands, parts soak, bench grinder and a variety of standard and metric tools. Everything you need for a minor tune-up to a major overhaul can be found at our Auto Hobby Shop. You can even paint your car in our paint spray booth. Our mechanics are on duty to advise and assist you with “do-it-yourself” projects.

Bring your vehicle in and let us repair it for you. A wide range of services are available including front-end alignment, wheel-balancing, brake work, welding, engine analysis, oil change, tune-up and more. All service work performed by mechanics is started in the mornings. Call 759-3809 Monday through Friday from 8am to 6pm to make an appointment for service work.

Print and Poster Gallery
Our Print and Poster Gallery features signed and numbered limited edition prints by well-known artists as well as open edition posters. Subject matter includes military themes, aircraft (many of which are McConnell specific), ethnic art, Americana and decorative prints. We have a number of in-stock selections to choose from with many already framed and matted for hanging in your home, office or for gifts.
Special orders are available on thousands of prints. Bring in the print name and/or artist name and we will find it for you – often at a significant discount.

Quilting & Sewing
Second Saturday of each month from 10am – 4pm. Instructor assists each student individually on their project. Cost is $15 plus supplies. Come to the Arts & Crafts Center to pick out a pattern, or bring your own.

Basketweaving
McConnell Air Force Bases’ Arts & Crafts Center is well-known for it’s Basketweaving classes, some of the best the Air Force has to offer. Call Arts & Crafts for times and details.

Sales Store
Our sales store has a variety of arts and crafts supplies at discount prices. You can buy paints, brushes, canvas, rubber stamps, ceramic products, tools, pens and much more. If you are in need of a special order, ask us. In most cases we can accommodate your requests.
Woodworking and automotive supplies are also available at the center in their respective shops.
